Vanuatu’s Citizenship by Investment programme requires a government donation of $130,000 for a family of up to four applicants. There is a $25,000 fee per each additional applicant for families of more than four persons. Additional due diligence and processing fees are also applicable and will vary depending on the applicant’s age and the size of their family. $50,000 of the $130,000 is invested into shares of an approved fund and is redeemable after five years. This effectively means the net cost of the programme works out at $80,000, plus processing and due diligence fees. Processing is fast with citizenship usually granted within 1 to 3 months. There is no language requirement and due diligence is conducted on all applicants who must have a clear criminal record. Citizenship is hereditary. There are no restrictions on dual citizenship and there is no requirement to visit or reside to obtain or retain a passport.
